This semester USC creative writing lecturer and author, Sarah Kanake will host three author appearances through the Master of Professional Practice program.
These lectures are free and open to everyone (students and public)!
First up we will welcome Australian author, Patrick Holland, whose work has been recognised by the Miles Franklin Award, the Scott Prize and the Commonwealth Writers Prize. Next we look forward to a visit from, Dr Ariella Van Luyn, a Townsville academic with a creative writing PhD. Ariella will discuss her debut novel, ‘Treading Air’ and the particular joys and difficulties of writing historical fiction. Last we welcome (back!) Young Adult author and journalist, Christine Bongers, whose latest teen novel ‘Intruder’ won the 2015 Davitt Award for best crime debut. Week 10 - (October 5) – Christine Bongers LT7 (Lecture theatre 7, C Building) - 6.00-6.45pm followed by short Q&A
Authors Nike Sulway and Richard Newsome also visited MoPP students earlier in the year to discuss writing and publishing.
