For the first time in the competition's history, two entries have been declared winners of the Gary Crew Award. Judges were unable to choose an outright winner and agreed to award the 2013 title to Mark Attwood and Joei Von Magius.
The narrator in Mark's story 'Questions' uses Google to explore the meaning of his father's ashes and questions the neat definitions that do little justice to the flesh and memories of who his father really is.
In Joei's story the narrator confesses why the 'D' word was impossible to use in addressing her father until finally she can bring herself to say it.
The two winners were chosen from a record field of 30 entries and they both receive a USC Coop Bookshop voucher and their names on the Gary Crew Award Perpetual Trophy.
